Create PRO videos in minutes with InVideo

You’ve got a bunch of videos recorded in the wrong mode and you need to rotate them? This is a common issue for most of us, regardless of the device we’re using.

There’s probably a whole lot of videos on your hard drive that are in portrait instead of landscape mode, and vice versa. When we want to capture something quickly, it sometimes happens that we start recording in the wrong mode and flip our device when we realize we’ve made a mistake.

Plenty of devices remain locked in the mode they started recording in, leaving us with a video that makes no sense watching unless we want to break our neck. It also happens that, when we film something under an odd angle, the device makes the decision for us that isn’t what we intended originally.

It could also be that you’re creating an artistic video project where you’d like to play with your videos by rotating them in various ways.

Whatever the reason, rotating your video in Windows should be an easy task, right? The first course of action would be checking out the good old Windows Media Player.

Can I Rotate a Video in Windows Media Player?

Windows Media Player is something like an old friend to Windows users. It’s been around since Windows 3.0. Even after all this time, it’s still the default video player for Windows operating systems. You can find it in Windows 10. All you need to do is:

  1. Go to Start
  2. Search for Windows Media Player
  3. Click on the program when it pops up

Windows Media Player is still a decent solution for basic video playback needs. It supports a variety of formats, including MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, 3GP, M2TS, MPEG, etc. The question is—how does it fare when it comes to features other than playing videos?

The answer will disappoint you. Windows Media Player doesn’t provide any video editing features, including the ability to rotate your video.

It may come as a surprise, considering that Windows Photo Viewer allows you to rotate your images. One might expect from a video player that’s been around for so long to have such a feature.

In truth, Windows Media Player became obsolete a long time ago, and it was replaced with more robust third-party solutions, like GOM Player and VLC Media Player.

To rotate your videos, you can turn to various websites that are often debatable when it comes to safety issues. If you’re using one of the more feature-rich video players, they can help you fix your videos.

What we offer is a superior solution—using our video editing platform to edit your videos and create amazing projects from them.
